About the Designer

Nestled in the mountains of North Carolina, Manual Woodworkers and Weavers (MWW) was founded in 1932 by Tom Oates. Originally making wood carvings from mountain laurel featuring the names of National Parks, when the second generation of owners took over in the 1970's, they expanded into the gift market. Taking advantage of the trend in "country" in the 1980s and 1990s, the company began making rag rugs using fabric offcuts from local mills.
The third generation of the family-owned business has now expanded into innovative technology. MWW On Demand, a subsidiary of MWW is the proud American leader of the textile and custom printing industry. A family-owned business built on quality products and outstanding customer service, MWW continues to thrive in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
