Measure the desired length of the drop from the table's edge to the hem. Dining tables have a 6" to 8" drop, with 8" being standard.
For a floor-length tablecloth, measure the distance from the table's edge to the floor.
Multiply the drop by 2, and add to the diameter. For example, a 36" diameter table with an 8" drop would require a round tablecloth 52" in diameter (36" + 8" + 8" = 52"). A 24" diameter table that is 42" high would require a 108" tablecloth if you want a floor-length tablecloth.
