How to Select the Right Size Square or Rectangular Tablecloth

How to Select the Right Size Square or Rectangular Tablecloth

  1. Measure the width of your square or rectangular table's top.
  2. Measure the length of your square or rectangular table's top.
  3. Measure the desired length of the drop from the table's edge to the hem. Dining tables have a 6" to 8" drop, with 8" being standard. A more formal setting requires a longer length, 15" or more.
  4. For a floor-length tablecloth, measure the distance from the table's edge to the floor.
  5. Multiply the drop by 2, and add to the width. Repeat for the length. For example, a 54" × 54" square table with an 8" drop would require a square tablecloth 70" × 70" (54" + 8" + 8" = 70").

Table Length + (Drop Length × 2) = Tablecloth Length
Table Width + (Drop Length × 2) = Tablecloth Width
